MERCHANT ALERT SYSTEM FOR PUTNAM COUNTY BUSINESSES
The Merchant Alert System for Putnam County businesses has been implemented at the request of the leadership of the Brewster Chamber of Commerce to help keep local businesses informed about law enforcement and criminal related matters important to the safety of their employees and customers. The system is designed to keep businesses informed about the current status of criminal activity against businesses in the County; provide crime prevention topics; and provide public service messages regarding law enforcement matters pertaining to businesses in the County.
This is an inter-active system that will allow law enforcement and County businesses to inter-act in real time and is a positive step forward in the area of Community Policing.
Participating businesses will receive e-mail notifications simultaneously through the Merchant Alert System. To date, more than 70 businesses throughout Putnam County have enrolled in this program.
To enroll in the program, businesses are asked to contact their respective Chambers of Commerce, or visit http://www.putnamsheriff.com/content/merchant-alert-signup. To request that information be disseminated over the system, or to suggest crime prevention or public service topics to law enforcement, merchants are asked to call Chief Criminal Investigator A. Gerald Schramek at (845) 225-8060.
Sheriff Smith thanked all the Chambers of Commerce in Putnam County for participating in this program and gave special thanks to Geoffrey Reinwald and Rich Osmers, Board Members, Brewster Chamber of Commerce; and Linda Klein, Executive Director of the Brewster Chamber of Commerce, who were instrumental in helping this program get started in Putnam County.
